  • Extremely dependable!

If you need cheap and dependable transportation this is the perfect car. The worse mileage from a tank of gas was 34mpg and the best on a trip to NJ was 48.8mpg. Car has performed flawlessly. I have 79k miles and it runs like the day it was new. Looking at the kbb value this would be a great used car buy. Look for a great service record and you won't go wrong. I've seen examples of this particular engine going over 200k. I'll run mine to the ground and write an updated review.
  • Great Car

We bought the Accent with 10,000 miles on it. We have put about 45,000 miles on it. During the time we have owned it, we have kept up with all of the manufacturer suggested maintenance, and the car has treated us well. We have had no major issues. I drive it to work 40 miles a day and it is a great commuter car. I usually get around 40 mpg highway. if there is alot of city driving maybe more like 30 mpg. We had one issue with the passenger seat seatbelt sensor, but Hyundai was able to get that problem fixed. Great car for two people, a little cramped for more, but doable. We liked the arm rest for the driver side, wish both front seats had one. The small size of the car makes it easy to park and maneuver in small spaces like parking lots. Trunk space has been plenty for our needs, (married couple with no kids). One disappointment is that the car doesn't come with a spare. Maybe you could buy one later? Also since we got the base model it did not come with cruise control, and our aftermarket one works ok, not great. The car is a little slow in terms of acceleration, however you won't have a problem getting up to speed on the freeway, or make a pass if needed. (unless it is uphill) Overall we really like the car and would recommend to anyone.
  • Exactly what I was shopping for

I am an (almost) exclusively city driver. Stoplight to stoplight...my odometer options show my average mph at 19. Even at that amount of standing still, my average mpg is still an astounding 26. I did drive it on a 220 mile highway/interstate round trip and it clocked in at 41 mpg. For the money, it is good-looking and handles well. I have actually received a couple of compliments on it being a "nice-looking little car." I bought it new two years ago and have only put 6600 miles on the odometer, so I obviously can't speak to reliability or long-term maintenance issues. The interior is small, no doubt, but not as cramped as you would think by looking at the exterior. When you get it up to 65 or 70 on a highway you definitely hear the road. And the 4-cylinder engine (not sluggish at all for what it is) does take an acceleration beating if you're running the AC. For a low-mileage, city-driving, value-oriented shopper like myself, I would not hesitate to recommend this vehicle...again, with the caveat that mine has been babied and only has 6600 miles.
